Nepal is a monumental staircase whose summit is lost in the clouds

Our Trekking Routes in Nepal

Olivier KERVIEL, his Nepalese wife, their team, invite you to discover this magnificent Hindu kingdom perched in the foothills of the Himalayas. In Nepal, everyone will find what they are looking for, the mountain hiker, the river rafter, the wildlife enthusiast, the poet, the artist, the scholar or simply the curious. Nepal is a monumental staircase whose summit is lost in the clouds.

The "roof of the world", refuge of the Yeti and the gods, paradoxically takes birth in a lush jungle inhabited by wild animals. Such diversity cannot leave one indifferent. As for what's more, you know that the Nepalese, their languages and their customs are as varied as the soil itself, nothing stops you from visiting this magnificent country that is Nepal. Come do it with us!

Tamang Heritage Hill

Period: From March to the end of May and from the end of September to the end of November.

Type: Homestay/lodge

Duration: From 6 to 8 days

(can be extended with Langtang and Helambu for a total duration of 18 days)

Difficulty: Average

(moderate altitude, but quite a few positive and negative elevation changes)

Highlights:

  • Immersion in the Tamang ethnic groups

  • Very beautiful views of peaks

  • Hot springs

Details:

The Tamang Heritage Trail is one of those treks "freshly" open to the general public, which makes it a route that is still very untouristy at the moment. This low attendance combined with an immersion experience very close to the local population, as well as beautiful views of the surrounding mountains (Ganesh Himal range and Langtang) will leave you with unforgettable memories.

You will forget the relatively Spartan comfort, when you are confronted with the kindness of the inhabitants, the beauty of their villages (especially in terms of the sculptures of the windows and doors) and when you can relax in the springs of Tatopani waterfalls.

Trek of an average level with quite a few elevation changes, it can be sufficient in itself or be extended by the trek in the Langtang valley and possibly Helambu. It therefore offers good flexibility in terms of time.

If you decide to continue, treks in the Langtang and Helambu regions allow you to discover splendid landscapes: rhododendron and juniper forests, pine forests, rivers with suspension bridges, numerous waterfalls, imposing mountain ranges (with the Langtang Lirung at 7245 m in particular), small villages with monasteries and cheese factories, mountain pastures with yaks, numerous flowers (especially edelweiss and gentians), peaks where Buddhist prayer flags fly, the sacred lakes (for Hindus who come to venerate Shiva) of Gosaikung, rice fields and terraced fields

DAY 01: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi 1460m by road (6-7 hours).

DAY 02: Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang village 2238m, 6-7 hours. Visit to the village of Gatlang and its monastery.

DAY 03: Trek from Gatlang village to Tatopani 2607m, 6-7 hours. Walk via a typically Nepalese suspension bridge to the village of Chilime, overlooking chörtens along the way. There is the possibility of swimming in a hot spring (Tatopani).

DAY 04: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman 3165m, 5-6 hours. Superb view of Langtang Lirung, Shishapangma, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Himal etc.

DAY 05: Trek from Thuman to Timure 1762m, 6-7 hours. Walk via the suspension bridge to the village of Timure. Discover Rsauwaghadi 1815m.

DAY 06: Trek from Timurus to Briddhim 2230m, 5-6 hours. Visit a Tamang village and discover their art of living, culture and religion. Accommodation with a local family.

DAY 07: Either go back down to Syanbrubensi then return to Kathmandu the next day, or continue the trek towards the Langtang valley.

Panch Pokhari

Period: From mid-March to the end of May and from the beginning of October to mid-November.

Type: Bivouac

Duration: 12 days

Difficulty: Average

Highlights:

  • One of the rare treks that runs along mountain ridges and offers magnificent views throughout

  • The highlight is the Panch Pokhari cirque with its 4 magnificent sacred lakes and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains which are extremely close

  • Bivouac trek and therefore complete autonomy

Details:

Located northeast of Kathmandu, this trek is located south of the Langtang range, east of the Ganesh Himal and west of the Rolwaling region. Of an atypical type and unlike a majority of treks in Nepal which are done at the bottom of the valley, walking, during this trek, has the enormous advantage of being done mainly at the top of the ridges, thus offering a view incredible and for the majority of the journey, panoramic over the neighboring mountain ranges of Langtang, Jugal and Rolwaling.

The highlight of the show is the arrival on Panch Pokhari, in other words the 5 lakes. This major place of pilgrimage for Buddhists and Hindus, who flock during the full moon period in August, paradoxically remains practically unknown to the general public and particularly to foreign trekkers. Offering a true haven of peace, from this place you have the impression of being able to touch the mythical Gauri Shankar and you can see as far as the Numbur mountains.

This exceptional region due to its beauty, its diversity of landscape, fauna and flora, characterized by its coniferous forests, then, at higher altitudes, giant rhododendrons remains very little frequented. It also allows you to discover pasture areas and after having evolved in uninhabited areas for several days you will savor the discovery and hospitality of Tamang and Sherpas villages, further down the valley, on the way back, along the sacred Indrawati River.

DAY 01: Kathmandu – Chautara by bus (approximately 5 hours) With a relatively short travel time to Nepal, this route offers beautiful views of the mountains giving a nice taste of the experience to follow...

DAY 02: Chautara – Sano Okreni (1500-2100m). 5 hour stage. The start of the journey begins quietly through forests, growing areas and villages. Once past Syaule, you will climb to the Sano Okreni camp, offering a view of the day's stages.

DAY 03: Sano Okreni – Kami Kharka (2100-2900m). 5 hour stage. A day of climbing in the forest. You will quickly reach the hamlets of Phusre and Matigan and you will leave civilization to enjoy a camp on one of the highest points.

DAY 04: Kami Kharka – Saddle Kharka (2900-3200m). 6 hour stage. After climbing into a rhododendron forest you will take a lunch break at the foot of Chyo Chyo Danda. You will climb there to admire the view (3450m) before descending following the ridges to the next camp.

DAY 05: Saddle Kharka – Hile Bhanjyang (3200-3400m). 5 hour stage. The morning will be sporty with a climb up to 3800m and a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. Evening camp

DAY 06: Hile Bhanjyang – Nosyampati (3400-3600m). 4h30 stage. Gradual climb to the next camp whose highest point offers a magnificent view of the Langtang and Jugal ranges.

DAY 07: Nosyampati – Panch Pokhari (3600-4060m). 4 hour stage. The purpose of the trip has been achieved... Collection and appreciation are evident. On arrival a tour of the lakes is essential and with a little luck you will be treated to a magnificent sunset.

DAY 08: Panch Pokhari – Nosyampati (4060-3600m). 3 hour stage. The bravest will get up to climb and enjoy the sunrise on the Jugal range and take a short walk on the ridges before going back down to the next camp.

DAY 09: Nosyampati – Dhukang (3600-2300m). 5 hour stage. A day of descent into the forest to reach the first homes.

DAY 10: Dhukang – Mane Kharka (2300-1700m). 5 hour stage. As you descend, you will pass through the Tamang and Sherpas villages of the region and see construction styles and vegetation evolve.

DAY 11: Mane Kharka – Melamchi Bazar (1700-850m). 5h30 stage. The last stage of the journey is gently sloping following the Indrawati River which widens with the tributaries that flow into it.

DAY 12: Melamchi Bazar – Kathmandu by bus (approximately 5 hours). The final stage is by road to reach the capital.

Kato Doms Manaslu Circuit on March 2025 Fantastic Manaslu Trekking with Celtic Trekking March 2025 We recently completed the Manaslu Trek in Nepal, organized by Celtic Trekking. Our experience was exceptional from start to finish. Communication with Uddhav prior to the trek was smooth and efficient. He welcomed us at the airport upon arrival and provided all the necessary information for a seamless trip. The trek itself was guided by Pawan, who was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and fluent in both English and French. He had extensive experience and a deep understanding of trekking and the mountains, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. He was punctual, ensured we had everything we needed, and was also a delightful, funny companion throughout the two-week jou ey. We highly recommend Pawan and Celtic Trekking to anyone planning a trek in Nepal. It was an unforgettable experience, and we would certainly choose them again for future treks.
